Meat Mitch BBQ Review – Kansas City Flavor That Left Us Wanting More

Meat Mitch BBQ Review – Kansas City Flavor That Left Us Wanting More

Sometimes Being Sold Out Is the Best Advertisement

One of the realities of attending a massive food festival like Windy City Smokeout is that the most popular items don’t always last.

That’s exactly what happened when we stopped by Meat Mitch BBQ.

Our mission was simple: find someone to try their famous Kansas City brisket burnt ends.

Unfortunately…

They were already sold out.

While that was disappointing, it also told us something before we even took our first bite people clearly know what they’re coming for.

Thankfully, Meat Mitch had another specialty ready to save the day.

Lisa’s Pick: The Jalapeño Rope Sausage

Instead of the burnt ends, Lisa ordered the Jalapeño Rope Sausage.

And she wasn’t disappointed.

From the first bite she talked about the balance of flavors. The smoke came through immediately without overpowering the sausage, while the jalapeños added just enough heat to keep things interesting without becoming overwhelming.

The texture was juicy, the seasoning was well-balanced, and every bite delivered exactly what you’d hope from competition-style Kansas City barbecue.

Lisa’s verdict?

She’d absolutely recommend it.

Even with the burnt ends unavailable, Meat Mitch still delivered a memorable experience.

The Burnt Ends We Couldn’t Get

Kansas City barbecue has built its reputation on burnt ends, and Meat Mitch has become nationally recognized for theirs.

It’s hard to be upset when something sells out it usually means everyone else had the same idea you did.

If anything, it just gives us another reason to make the trip again.

We’ll definitely be back to finally see what everyone has been talking about.

About Meat Mitch BBQ

Located in Leawood, Kansas, just outside Kansas City, Meat Mitch BBQ is owned by championship pitmaster Mitch Benjamin.

The restaurant has earned a loyal following for its competition-style barbecue, award-winning WHOMP!sauces and rubs, brisket, burnt ends, smoked meats, and creative sandwiches. Mitch’s success on the competitive BBQ circuit has helped build Meat Mitch into a destination for barbecue fans from around the country.

Whether you’re stopping in for brisket, ribs, sausage, or chasing those famous burnt ends, the restaurant represents the bold flavors Kansas City barbecue is known for.

Final Thoughts

Sure, we missed out on the burnt ends.

But honestly?

If your “backup plan” is a jalapeño rope sausage that good, you’re doing something right.

Lisa walked away impressed, we’d happily recommend it, and now we have the perfect excuse to make another visit.

Next time…

We’re getting those burnt ends before they disappear.

F’nAround Rating:

If you’re planning a visit, get there early. When the burnt ends are gone, they’re gone and judging by how quickly they sell out, that’s a pretty good sign they’re worth the trip.
