Flower Expo Illinois 2026: Old Friends, New Friends and a Walk Through a Cloud

Flower Expo Illinois 2026: Old Friends, New Friends and a Walk Through a Cloud

Chicago’s cannabis industry filled The Geraghty with more than 100 brands, hundreds of retailers, cold infused drinks, stacked gummies, outdoor seshes and a Fernway after-party that kept the celebration going

There are cannabis trade shows, there are cannabis festivals, and then there are events that understand the industry works best when business, products and community are allowed to exist in the same place.

Flower Expo Illinois 2026 understood the assignment.

Held September 15–16 at The Geraghty in Chicago’s Heart of Chicago neighborhood, the invitation only B2B gathering brought licensed operators, dispensary buyers, budtenders, ancillary businesses and media together across more than 60,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space. Flower Expo advertised more than 100 exhibiting brands, representation from more than 200 Illinois dispensaries and over 1,500 budtenders. Those numbers sound like trade-show statistics on a website. On the ground, they felt like a packed cross-section of Illinois cannabis gathered in one place.

For F’nAround Media, the day began the way Flower Expo has started to begin by tradition: with Mike Gillot doing something Mike Gillot probably should not volunteer to do, but absolutely will volunteer to do if a camera is rolling.

This time, he also helped close the expo with a Flight from Breeze Canna. Mike took the Flight like a champ, and Breeze rewarded the effort by retiring Joe Phelan’s Robert Graham camera bag for the day and replacing it with a brand-new Breeze bag. It was practical, funny and exactly the kind of spontaneous exchange that makes an event memorable after the booths come down.

That small moment also captured the larger personality of Flower Expo. This was serious business, but it did not have to feel like a convention hall full of stiff handshakes and rehearsed pitches. People were there to show products, meet buyers, learn what was entering the Illinois market and make real connections. They were also there to laugh, catch up with old friends and meet new ones while quite literally walking through a cloud.

A Cannabis Expo That Actually Felt Alive!

The Geraghty was a strong setting for the event because Flower Expo used both sides of the venue’s personality. Inside, booths, displays and brand representatives filled the exhibition hall. Outside, the hot Chicago day opened into food, lounge areas, conversations and consumption.

The result felt less like a conventional conference and more like an industry block party with purchase orders.

The products were everywhere. Gummies were stacked across tables. Vape and hardware companies showed off their latest devices. Flower, prerolls, beverages and accessories moved through a crowd that included buyers, budtenders, operators and people who understood the difference between simply placing a product on a shelf and giving someone a reason to remember it.

From SunnyD, Road Trip and TONIC to Banks, AI, ROVE and AIRO, the floor offered a look at how broad the modern cannabis market has become. The industry is no longer represented by one product category or one kind of consumer. Flower Expo put beverages beside gummies, hardware beside flower, celebrity collaborations beside independent craft operators and national brands beside Illinois companies still establishing their identities.

Nuvata, The Silver Ash Company, Seven Point Illinois, Sin City Cannabis Illinois and Trippy Sips were among the companies and people tagged in F’nAround’s day-one montage. Dan Caravette of Sin City Cannabis was part of that mix, along with Thomas Peck and the teams representing the many brands that stopped to talk, demonstrate products or simply share the day.

That kindness mattered. A trade show can have the biggest names in the business and still feel transactional. Flower Expo felt social. The people working the booths were welcoming, the conversations continued beyond the product pitch and the crowd seemed genuinely happy to see one another.

Verano Brought Shade, Balloons and Cold Drinks!

Verano once again understood how to build a setup around the actual conditions of the day.

On a hot afternoon, its smoke balloons made the space easy to find while cold infused drinks gave people a reason to stay. It was colorful, functional and busy, the kind of activation that looked good on camera without forgetting that everyone walking the expo needed something cold.

That balance ran throughout the event. The strongest booths did more than display packaging. They created an experience around the brand. Some leaned into design, some into flavor, some into education and others into spectacle. Together, they made the expo floor feel active rather than repetitive.

The SESHES speaker programming added a more formal layer, with keynote and panel sessions designed to put Illinois cannabis leaders and emerging voices in the same conversation. Even for attendees who spent most of the day moving between booths, the programming reinforced the event’s larger B2B purpose: Flower Expo was built to connect brands directly with the buyers, retailers and budtenders who decide what reaches consumers.

Breeze Gave Mike a Flight and Joe a New Camera Bag!

Every F’nAround trip needs at least one moment that sounds questionable without context.

At Flower Expo, it was Mike starting and ending the day with a Breeze Flight.

He handled it like a champion, and somewhere between the laughs and the camera footage, Breeze swapped Joe’s Robert Graham camera bag for one of its own. The original bag had carried the cameras into the expo; the Breeze bag carried them out.

It was not the only equipment upgrade of the day. Fernway supplied sunglasses and its newest Stealth battery, an appropriately discreet piece of hardware that will, of course, be used strictly for work purposes.

Those details are what turn an event recap into a memory. Product releases matter. Booth designs matter. Industry numbers matter. But the moments people retell later are usually the unscripted ones.

Fernway’s Good Company After-Party!

When the expo ended, Fernway kept the day moving with its official Good Company Illinois Flower Expo After-Party at Chicago’s Epiphany Center for the Arts.

Fernway had already made its presence known at the expo. At the party, the company leaned fully into the community side of the industry. There were sunglasses, bags, shirts and the newest version of the Fernway Stealth battery. Tattoos were being given, music and conversation carried the night, and Taylor’s Tacos kept the food moving.

The raffle centerpiece was a signed Khalifa poster celebrating the collaboration between Khalifa Kush and Illinois cultivator Flora Arbor. Khalifa Kush, founded by Wiz Khalifa, entered Illinois through its partnership with Flora Arbor, which grows the brand’s genetics for the state market. The raffle connected a celebrity-backed national name with the Illinois company responsible for bringing the products to local shelves.

The after-party did what a good after-party is supposed to do: it allowed the conversations started on the expo floor to continue without the pressure of standing behind a booth. The sales language softened, people relaxed and the industry became a room full of people again.

More Than the Biggest Names!

The 2026 lineup mixed recognizable national and multistate names with Illinois craft operators, infused-product makers, technology companies and service providers.

Fernway, Breeze Canna, ROVE, Cresco, Verano, Elevate, Wana, Legacy, Kiva, Camino, The Botanist, Lost Farm, IC Collective, OGeez!, Grön, Hijnx, Nuvata and Sticky Greens appeared alongside Flora Arbor, Khalifa Kush, Redemption Botanicals, Releaf Botanicals, Sin City Cannabis, Sol Canna, Silver Ash, Trippy Sips, Rooted, Tickled Pink and Triple Seven.

The broader official lineup also included Belushi’s Farm, Korner Boys, Blue Brothers, Cannect Wellness, Cheeba Chews, Good Vibes, Grassroots, Journeyman, Gemmy’s, Kush Queen, Love’s Oven, TICAL, Northern Heights, Napalm, Mile High Melts, Oregonix, Kaviar, Emerald Gardens, Galaxy Labs, Fyre Pre-Rolls, Rayne Drops, Scandalous Chocolates, Spliff Society, Sweed, Zingz, Zoi Smiles and ZZZs.

Ancillary, operational and industry-support companies were represented as well, including Flowhub, Leafnet, Metrc, Range Marketing, Contract Canna, Culinary CannaCo, CNS Harvest, The Mobile Lounge and Teamsters. F’nAround’s own montage additionally tagged AIRO Brands, ROVE, TONIC, Road Trip, Seven Point Illinois and Breeze Canna.

That combination is important. Consumers often encounter cannabis as a finished jar, vape, gummy or drink. An industry event shows the much larger network behind it: growers, infusers, manufacturers, packaging and hardware companies, software providers, marketers, compliance systems, labor, retailers, buyers and budtenders.

Flower Expo put that network in the same building.

Illinois Dispensaries Showed Up!

The official retailer list extended across the state and included major chains, independent stores and newer social-equity operators. Among the names represented were Ascend Cannabis, Aroma Hill, AuraLight, BLOC, Bloom Wellness, Bud & Rita’s, Cannabist, Cannect Dispensary, Cloud 9, Consume, Cookies, Curaleaf, Dispensary33, Dr. Greenthumb’s, Dutchess Cannabis, EarthMed, Grasshopper Club, Green Rose, Hatch, Ivy Hall, Maribis, Mint Cannabis, Mission, Nature’s Care, Nirvana, NOBO, nuEra, OKAY Cannabis, Planet 13, Prairie Cannabis, RISE, Seven Point, Sociale, Spark’d, Star Buds, Stash, Sunnyside, Terrabis, The Dispensary, TreeHaus, Trinity, Verilife, Village Dispensary, Windy City Cannabis and Zen Leaf.

That retail presence is the part that separates Flower Expo from a consumer festival. The fun creates the atmosphere, but the buyers and budtenders create the business value. Brands were not merely performing for a crowd; they were introducing products to the people who may decide what Illinois consumers see next.

Food, Heat and the Importance of Keeping People Fed!

Food can be treated as an afterthought at industry events. Here, it was part of the pacing. Cold drinks helped outside during the heat; food gave people a place to stop; tables became meeting points; and the pauses created more conversations.

It sounds simple because it is simple. If an event wants people to stay, it has to give them reasons to be comfortable.

What Flower Expo Got Right!

Flower Expo Illinois worked because it did not force attendees to choose between business and personality.

The show delivered the pieces expected from a serious industry event: a vetted B2B audience, more than 100 brands, buyers from dispensaries across Illinois, panels, product education and direct networking. But it also remembered that the cannabis industry grew through culture and community long before it had convention booths, retail analytics and branded activation budgets.

The balloons, drinks, gummies, devices, outdoor seshes, tacos, tattoos and giveaways were not distractions from the business. They were the environment in which the business happened.

For F’nAround, the best events are the ones where the montage almost makes itself. Mike opens the show. Brands become characters. A camera bag gets replaced. Someone hands Joe a battery “for work.” Old friends appear, new friends join the story, and the night ends somewhere beyond the original schedule.

That is what happened in Chicago.

Old friends. New friends. Products stacked high. Kind people everywhere. One long walk through a cloud.

This is what a Flower Expo should be.
