Well… THAT was fun.

So I sat through the Chicago hemp-ban l meeting today… that was a waste.

Meanwhile, Crain’s drops an article post-meeting revealing the truth:

The real carve-out suddenly being championed?

Restaurants, bars, and beverage groups.

Not kids.

Not public safety.

Just making sure the right donors don’t get their toes stepped on.

Is that why the vote got delayed?

In Chicago?

A delay to rewrite a bill so it doesn’t hurt politically connected industries?

Noooo… never.

It’s wild to watch in real time how fast the narrative shifts once the adults in the room read the news and realize who actually needs protection. Spoiler: It’s never the kids.

If this wasn’t protectionism…

If this was really about “the children”…

Why does the survival of the bill suddenly depend on keeping liquor and restaurant donors happy? Were they jealous of the Cannabis protectionism and selective enforcement?
