When the Snow Falls in Chicago
When the Snow Falls in Chicago
Oh the snow, oh the snow, it has started to drop,
And the city of Chicago forgets how to stop.
The brakes go screech! and the horns go beep!
And the salt trucks crawl while we curse in our sleep.
The boots come out, the coats get zipped,
The sidewalks turn slick, and egos get tripped.
The L is delayed (surprise, surprise),
And coffee lines stretch to the cloudy skies.
We’ll see one guy in gym shorts still,
Proving his Midwest frostbite will.
The Cubs fans sigh, the Sox fans too,
Both agreeing, Yeah, this winter’s through.
Potholes bloom like springtime weeds,
The plows just miss them classic deeds.
Someone’s shoveling out their space,
Then guarding it with a plastic crate.
The air gets mean, the wind gets bold,
Your soul starts questioning why it’s cold.
But give it a day, we’ll all adapt
Snow’s just the city giving us a slap.
So welcome, flakes, you messy charm
You turn our chaos into warm alarm.
And through it all, with frozen feet,
We’ll still say, Chicago still can’t be beat.
