Mother’s Day Brunch Surprise at Thorn Restaurant & Lounge Inside The Rose Hotel Chicago O’Hare

Sometimes the best food surprises happen in places you weren’t expecting.

For Mother’s Day, we stopped into Thorn Restaurant & Lounge inside the The Rose Hotel Chicago O’Hare in Rosemont, and honestly? This one caught us off guard in a good way.

I ordered the Rose Burger, and it was one of those burgers you immediately know you’d order again. The potato bun was soft without falling apart, the burger itself was juicy and perfectly seasoned, and the bacon absolutely carried that extra “this is worth it” factor. The fries were crispy, flavorful, and actually felt like they were made to complement the burger instead of just being tossed on the plate as filler.

My mom went with the bacon and cheddar omelette, which came with seasoned breakfast potatoes that were genuinely great. Solid portions, flavorful, and exactly the kind of comfort breakfast you want on Mother’s Day.

One thing that was also a nice surprise: they serve Starbucks coffee through the hotel’s built-in Starbucks setup. Small detail, but it adds a lot when you want brunch without gambling on mystery hotel coffee.

The atmosphere was another standout. The decor has this modern pop-art vibe with neon lighting, black-and-white styling, and a fun upscale lounge feel without becoming pretentious. It feels trendy without trying too hard.

Location-wise, it’s also perfectly placed if you’re heading around the Rosemont entertainment area. Whether you’re going to the Allstate Arena, the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center, the Wolff’s Flea Market area, EXP immersive experiences with virtual reality attractions, or even Dave & Buster’s, it’s a great spot to stop before or after everything.

And while places like Truluck’s and Carmine’s Rosemont dominate the “fancy dinner” conversation nearby, Thorn feels like the hidden middle ground quality food, cool atmosphere, and significantly easier on the wallet.

Pleasantly surprised by this one. Definitely worth a try if you’re in Rosemont and want something that feels a little elevated without going full steakhouse pricing.
