The Hammond Bears and Chicago 2.0? Article share
I was asked to look into the new AI data centers and redevelopment projects happening in Hammond, Indiana and see if anything caught my eye.
A few hours later I somehow ended up buried in: data-center infrastructure,
multi-billion-dollar power expansion plans,
Chicago-linked institutional investors, redevelopment corridors, housing acquisitions, NIPSCO generation scaling, and add in enough Chicago Bears stadium rumors to accidentally create what looks like a Midwest systems-theory dissertation.
At some point the question stopped being:
“Why is there a data center in Hammond?”
…and became:
“Why does Hammond suddenly look like somebody is quietly preparing the infrastructure backbone for the next era of regional growth?”
Not conspiracy. Not doomposting. Just infrastructure, energy, capital flow, and a very concerning amount of browser tabs happening in the middle of the night.
