New analytics

Today’s analytics were… unexpected.

One of the visitors reading cannabis ownership-related articles and posts came from an IP that an IP lookup service attributes to the Internal Revenue Service.

Now before everyone panics:

No, I have no idea who it was.

No, I have no idea why they visited.

No, I have no idea what they were looking at beyond the page analytics.

But if you’re in cannabis and have spent the last few years explaining ownership structures, management agreements, transfers, consulting agreements, operating agreements, beneficial interests, side agreements, side-side agreements, and agreements about the agreements…

Maybe this is a good reminder to dot your i’s, cross your t’s, and make sure your paperwork matches reality.

Could be nothing.

Could be someone on a lunch break.

Could be a bored government employee.

Either way, watching the analytics has become more entertaining than most television lately.

What I can say is this: the visitor appears to have arrived through search activity and spent time reading multiple cannabis ownership and public-records-related articles. Whether that means anything at all, I have no idea.

But if you work in cannabis, it’s probably never a bad day to make sure your records, disclosures, ownership information, and agreements are accurate, organized, and consistent.
